Her journey in fashion began during her college years, sketching designs in her aunt’s dress shop. This early passion led her to pursue formal training at the Madonna School of Fashion and Design. She further refined her expertise at internationally renowned institutions including the London College of Fashion, Central Saint Martins in London, and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

Throughout her career, Mimi has received prestigious accolades, including recognition from the Ramon Magsaysay Foundation as Best Female Entrepreneur in Southern Philippines, as well as the Business Leaders Award from Business Week Mindanao Corporation, honoring her impact in both fashion and entrepreneurship.

In 2016, she was appointed Presidential Fashion Consultant to Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, where she designed the historic inauguration barong. She later created refined pieces for ASEAN leaders and distinguished delegates during the 2017 ASEAN Summit, presenting Filipino craftsmanship on an international stage with elegance and cultural pride.
